Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA)

Predictive technique that analyzes the motor electrical current spectrum to detect defects without direct contact with the machine. Detects: broken rotor bars (±2sf frequencies around fundamental), static/dynamic airgap eccentricity, bearing problems and mechanical load faults. Advantage: only requires current sensor at the electrical panel. Equipment: ALL-TEST Pro, Baker Instrument (Megger), Fluke 438-II. Standard: IEEE 1129.
