Backlog >6 weeks indicates insufficient resources (personnel, parts, tools); <2 weeks may indicate overstaffing or underestimation of available work. Components: pending corrective, overdue preventive and improvement jobs. Managed weekly in maintenance planning meeting. Reducing it is the objective of proactive maintenance plans.
