Criteria for critical classification: delivery time >48 h, Class A equipment, high failure probability, no redundant equipment. A minimum safety stock must be maintained, calculated by lead time and historical consumption. Management: ABC criticality classification, supplier contracts, consignment agreements. Storage cost vs. unplanned downtime cost justifies the investment.
