Tracking the evolution of a condition parameter (vibration, temperature, wear, viscosity) over time to predict when it will reach the alarm level or functional failure point. Plot the measured value vs. time and project the trend using linear regression or statistical models. Allows scheduling maintenance intervention in advance, minimizing unplanned failure risk and optimizing component usage. Key in CBM. Requires a history of at least 3-5 consistent measurements.
