Full definition
The routine cleaning and care procedures that maintain the appearance, safety (anti-slip properties), and service life of installed rubber flooring. Daily: sweep or vacuum to remove grit and debris (abrasive particles ground underfoot are the primary cause of surface wear). Weekly: mop with warm water and neutral pH detergent (pH 7-9); rinse with clean water; allow to dry. Periodic (monthly or quarterly): machine scrub with auto-scrubber using soft pads (not aggressive brushes), neutral cleaner, and clean water rinse. Avoid: solvent-based cleaners (attack rubber — cause swelling and surface degradation), concentrated chlorine/bleach (>500 ppm degrades NR and SBR), abrasive powders (scratch surface), and harsh alkaline strippers (pH >12). For high-gloss maintenance: apply manufacturer-recommended rubber floor polish/emulsion (restores sheen, adds protective layer). Immediately clean oil and chemical spills — prolonged exposure may soften or stain certain rubber types. Scuff marks: remove with fine nylon pad or melamine sponge. Life expectancy with proper maintenance: 15-25+ years for quality rubber flooring. Per Nora, Mondo, and Gerflor maintenance guides.
