A flooring system composed of individual interlocking pieces that connect without adhesive using puzzle (jigsaw), snap, or hidden dovetail connectors, enabling fast tool-free installation and easy partial replacement of damaged sections. This "dry-lay" approach means the floor can be installed, used, removed, and relocated — ideal for rental spaces, trade shows, temporary facilities, and areas requiring frequent underfloor access. Materials: rubber (best impact absorption and durability), PVC (economical, widest color range), and polypropylene (drainage grating for wet areas). Tile sizes: typically 500×500 mm or 1,000×1,000 mm for flat tiles; smaller for grating (300×300 mm). Thicknesses: 5-50 mm depending on application. Interlocking mechanism must withstand expected traffic loads without separating — higher-traffic applications need tighter-fitting connectors or border restraints. Installation time: 5-10x faster than adhesive-bonded flooring (a 100 m² area can be tiled in 2-4 hours by two workers). Applications: gym and CrossFit flooring (most common use), trade show booths, workshop areas, garage floors, play areas, and temporary event spaces. Per ASTM F1344 for rubber tiles.
